About Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM)
Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) grew out of Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM). KPTM Kuala Lumpur was established in 1987, became a university college in October 2015 as Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA Kuala Lumpur (KUPTM), and gained university status in 2023 under its current name. The university is managed by Kolej Poly-Tech MARA Sdn. Bhd., which UPTM describes as wholly owned by MARA Corporation Sdn Bhd. UPTM explains that "Poly-Tech" refers to bringing technology into business education, not technical or vocational training.
The campus is at Jalan 6/91, Taman Shamelin Perkasa, in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. On the campus are classrooms, computer labs, simulation rooms, the Al-Khawarizmi Library, sports facilities and a cafeteria. The university's accommodation unit places students in off-campus hostels nearby.
UPTM offers foundation, diploma, bachelor's, master's, doctoral and professional programmes across business and accountancy, computing and multimedia, and education, social sciences and humanities. Its International Student Office applies to EMGS for the Visa Approval Letter, meets new students at the airport, arranges the arrival medical check-up and helps with the student pass.
