About Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), the National University of Malaysia, is one of the country's five research universities and a proud custodian of Malaysia's national identity. Founded in 1970 to advance higher learning through the Malay language, UKM has grown into a globally respected institution while keeping its heritage and public-service mission at heart. Its main campus spreads across a green, 1,096-hectare setting in Bangi, Selangor, a comfortable drive from Kuala Lumpur, with a second campus in the capital housing the health-sciences faculties. UKM is best known for its strength in medicine and the health sciences, the natural and physical sciences, and the social sciences and humanities. Teaching is closely tied to research: the university runs 13 faculties alongside a cluster of dedicated research institutes, and a large share of its subjects are ranked among the world's best. For students who want a serious academic environment backed by real laboratories, hospitals and research centres, UKM is a natural choice. For Bangladeshi students, UKM offers the credibility of a top public university, an English-medium learning experience at postgraduate and many undergraduate levels, and a diverse, welcoming campus community. As a national university, it combines strong government backing with international recognition, making a UKM qualification well regarded both in Malaysia and back home.
