About Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN)
Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) was established in 1997 and is wholly owned by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), which UNITEN describes as the largest electricity utility company in Southeast Asia. It calls itself "The Energy University" and focuses on engineering, computing and business, with research in areas such as renewable energy, smart grids and sustainable systems. The main campus is the Putrajaya Campus on Jalan IKRAM-UNITEN in Kajang, Selangor, close to Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. Most of UNITEN's programmes are taught there, including engineering, information technology and business. A branch campus, the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Campus in Bandar Muadzam Shah, Pahang, houses the UNITEN Business School and offers programmes from foundation to bachelor's level in accounting, business, finance and related fields. For international students, the International Office issues offer letters and handles student visa applications through EMGS. A standard visa application takes 6 to 8 weeks after a complete application and payment. Students who arrive without the required English level join UNITEN's Intensive English Programme (IEP).
