International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), known locally as UIA, is a public university established in 1983 and based at its main campus in Gombak on the edge of Kuala Lumpur. Founded through the joint sponsorship of the Government of Malaysia and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, IIUM was created with a distinctive mission: to integrate Islamic values and ethics with contemporary fields of knowledge, from engineering and medicine to law, economics and information technology. English is the medium of instruction across its faculties, with Arabic also widely used, so Bangladeshi students can study comfortably without needing a local language. IIUM is one of the most international universities in Malaysia, welcoming students from more than 100 countries and hosting several thousand international students alongside its Malaysian cohort. For students from Muslim-majority Bangladesh, the campus offers a familiar and supportive environment, prayer facilities are central to daily life, halal food is the norm, and the university community reflects the values of home while opening doors to a globally recognised degree. Beyond Gombak, the university runs campuses in Kuantan (health sciences), Pagoh and Gambang, and it is consistently recognised for its scholarship in Islamic studies as well as its growing strength in the sciences and professional fields. Degrees are approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and the Ministry of Higher Education, giving graduates credentials that are respected internationally.
